YUGOSLAV ANTI-TUBERCULOSIS ASSOCIATION was founded by initiative of chest
physicians of the Institute of Lung Diseases and Tuberculosis of the Clinical
Centre of Serbia in Belgrade in Decembre 2002 and officially registered in
Septembre 2003 as a non-governmental, non-political and non-profitable
organization. Today it sticks together more than 250 physicians, predominantly,
chest physicians, pediatricians, microbiologists and general practitioners. They
have expressed the willing to enforce their activities in fight against
tuberculosis. Nurses, patients and other interested subjects join the
association, too.

The principle aims of the association YATA:
Protection of professional interests of its members, help and support to work
under the best possible conditions;
Obtaining the professional behavior of the members in accordance with principles
of professional ethics;
Organizing of continual professional improvement, education and innovation of
knowledge of its members (education of physicians and medical staff in
prevention, diagnostics and therapy of tuberculosis and other lung diseases)
through lectures, seminars, trainings and tribunes;
Collaboration with educational organizations and legal authority bodies in
improvement of the system of education of young members;
Organizing of professional and scientific meetings to continually increase and
innovate the knowledge of the members;
Collaboration with governmental bodies in establishing rules from the basic
field of the association;
Collaboration with scientific and professional organizations and institutions in
Serbia and Montenegro and abroad to improve the strategy of fight against
tuberculosis and other lung diseases;
Joining to and collaboration with international professional organizations;
Increasing peoples’ awareness towards tuberculosis;
Publishing educational materials for medical staff, patients and population.
Achieving and fulfilling the other aims in accordance with the law and Statute
of the association.
